October brings a full month of activities for people aged over 50 across Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough as Positive Ageing Month returns for 2026.

The programme is designed to encourage people to stay active, try something different and make new connections in their local communities.

Activities are taking place in Armagh, Portadown, Lurgan, Banbridge and Dromore as well as villages and rural centres across the borough.

What can you expect during Positive Ageing Month?

The programme includes sport and exercise, arts and crafts, entertainment, health activities, cooking and a series of popular tea dances.

It means there should be options for people who want to become more active as well as those looking for something social, creative or simply a reason to get out and meet others.

Who is it for?

Positive Ageing Month is aimed at people aged 50 and over, although family and friends can also help spread the word to someone who might enjoy taking part.

The month-long format makes it particularly useful for anyone who does not fancy a large one-off event but would like to try a smaller local activity.
